Newforte farm is around 80 acres nestled in the rolling hills of County Down overlooked by Scrabo Tower. We are just outside Newtownards and 30 minutes from Belfast City Centre. Our family have farmed here since the early 1900s.
Over the years we have had all sorts on the farm from pigs to sheep, turnips and spuds. But for the last 40 years or so we have always kept beef cattle.
Farming has become increasingly industrialised since the second world war and the emphasis has been put on producing vast quantities of food as cheaply as possible. We want to take things back a step and focus on producing lower quantities but keep the quality as high as possible. Northern Ireland has lots of world class produce and we believe our beef sector is right up there as well.
